Sunday Documentary: Jerry Springer – Who Do You Think You Are?

My latest Sunday Documentary is Jerry Springer’s appearance on Who Do You Think You Are? – a BBC series in which celebrities trace their family roots.

Most famous for his controversial chat show, Jerry Springer was born in Highgate Tube Station in London during an air raid in 1944 after his Jewish parents fled Nazi Germany.

Springer is keen to find out more about his family, particularly the fate of his grandmothers, Marie Kallmann and Selma Springer, who he believes were victims of the Holocaust.

It was seeing Jerry Springer on Niebuhrstrasse in Berlin that prompted me to go there this week to see the Stolpersteine I posted about yesterday.

I remember watching this while it was on TV a while back. It’s an excellent episode and he’s a great subject. I’d also recommend Jerry’s Desert Island Discs http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/desert-island-discs/castaway/c4526589#b00nht5f
