Um 8 Uhr kommen die Schweine wieder (At 8 o’clock the pigs come back) is a silent film from Hans Totter, showing staff at the Strandbad Wannsee in Berlin cleaning in preparation for the first guests of the day to arrive.
Strandbad Wannsee is a lakeside beach in Steglitz-Zehlendorf on the Western outskirts of the city (the largest inland lido in Europe), which has been popular with Berlin bathers since the early 1900s.
Hans Totter is a pseudonym of Hansjürgen Pohland, a German film director and producer, born in Berlin in 1934.
The footage from Um 8 Uhr kommen die Schweine wieder is taken from another Hansjürgen Pohland film ‘die von der Sonne leben’ (released in 1958) with scenes rearranged for comic effect.
