Imren Grill – The Perfect Hangover Skewer

Döner Kebap im Brot (Doner Kebab) from Imren Grill in BerlinImren Grill has 5 restaurants in Berlin (Kreuzberg, Neukölln, Schöneberg and 2 in Wedding) that serve delicious Turkish food, including a Döner Kebap that is unlike any other I have had in the city.

What sets Imren apart from many of the other Döner Buden I have been to in Berlin is the quality of the meat used in their kebabs.  It’s a big fat juicy looking beast of a skewer, which I’m told is beef flavoured with lamb fat.  You can tell from the taste and the look of it that it is definitely not mass-produced – each of the 5 restaurants forms their own skewers from marinated and seasoned beef.

Imren’s restaurants are very popular and this in turn helps to keep the Döner tasty because the meat doesn’t stand around for hours unused as in some other places.

The sauces at Imren are also a little different to what you find at most kebab shops – they have a Sesame sauce and a Spicy sauce but they are much more subtle in flavour than those you tend to find elsewhere.

So far I have only tried the Döner im Brot (Doner kebab) and Döner Teller mit Pommes und Salat (Doner meat with chips / fries and salad) but there are lots of other tempting dishes on the menu.

Eating a Döner im Brot, Döner Teller or Dürüm at Imren Grill should be on any Kebap lover’s list of things to experience in Berlin.

The pide there is awesome, too. And they have also some delicious traditional non-grilled turkish food 🙂

I had a recommendation on FB to try their Lahmacun with Dönerfleisch and now your recommendation to try the Pide – two great excuses to go back!
